February is Black History Month and we thought we'd take time to celebrate black owners for their dedication and valuable contribution to our communities.
When we think of diversity and resilience, we think of Chef Arga Bourgeois, owner of Sunshine Health Food Store. Chef Arga and her father, Vergis, started Sunshine's to create a healthy culture in their community. Since 1983, Chef Arga has been able to grow not only her business but her commitment to a healthy lifestyle in Houston.
We recently filmed a piece about Arga and our work in Houston. Arga was one of our first customers in Houston and we are proud of her dream for a healthier community and passion to make it a reality. Partnering with Wells Fargo to Strengthen Business Diversity
Diversity shouldn't be a barrier to success. To better serve entrepreneurs like Arga, we are excited to launch a partnership with Wells Fargo and support more small businesses.
According to a recent AEO study, "the median net worth for Black business owners is 12 times higher than Black nonbusiness owners. Further, it is not because they started out wealthier." Entrepreneurship is a vital path to success and building wealth, which is why LiftFund is a proud grant recipient of the Wells Fargo Diverse Community Capital Program. This program will support LiftFund in providing capital and support services to black business and diverse entrepreneurs across our footprint.
